Website design, website development

We created the Tavern Concept as a spec project to show what a hospitality business can do with thoughtful hospitality web design, even when the entire website is built on a single page. For restaurants, bars, or any new business venture, a website needs to do more than exist. It should help people quickly understand your atmosphere, offerings, and location while making your business feel more credible from the start.

The Challenge

How do you create a website that gives your business a professional, credible online presence without the cost of a larger website?

For many small businesses, the challenge is not deciding whether they need a website. It is figuring out how to create one that looks good, reflects the quality of the business, and gives potential customers confidence without immediately committing to the cost of a larger custom website.

A business can have great products, great service, and a strong reputation, but if the website feels generic, outdated, or thrown together, it can undercut that impression before someone ever walks through the door. The goal was to show that even a single-page website can help build confidence when it is thoughtfully planned and professionally presented.

We created this Tavern concept to show how a single-page website can still look established and professional when it is structured with care and designed to guide visitors through the business clearly.

The Insight

Credibility comes from how your business is presented

For this Tavern concept, the goal was to show how a single-page site can still give a business a more established, professional image. A website does not need to be large to make the right impression, but it does need to feel like it reflects the quality of the business behind it.

We wanted the site to feel complete despite everything living on one page. The navigation moves visitors through distinct sections, making the experience feel closer to moving from page to page than simply landing on a basic landing page.

Our Approach

Making restaurant information easy to find and easy to update

We designed the Tavern concept as a PowerPage™ with the goal of fitting the content and functionality of a more traditional restaurant website into a well-organized single page. The navigation moves visitors directly to the information they are looking for, with dedicated sections for the restaurant, menu, events, gallery, social media, and contact information.

Restaurant-specific features include:

  • An interactive, built-in restaurant menu with food and drink organized into easy-to-browse categories rather than relying on a downloadable PDF. Menu items, descriptions, and pricing are part of the website itself and can be easily updated as the menu changes.
  • An interactive events calendar that restaurant staff can update with live music, special events, and other upcoming dates without needing a developer to make routine changes.
  • Online table reservations with a direct link to the restaurant’s booking platform, allowing visitors to move straight from the website to reserving a table.
  • Online ordering and delivery with direct links to the restaurant’s third-party ordering and delivery platforms.

Together, these features give customers quick access to the information and services they are most likely to need while giving the restaurant an easy way to keep its website current.

The Result

A single-page site that provides the experience of a standard website

The Tavern concept shows how a single-page site can still feel complete and well established when it is structured with the same care as a larger website. With navigation that moves visitors through distinct sections and space for the kind of content and functionality people expect to find on a standard restaurant website, the result is a site that feels more substantial than a basic starter build, giving the business a stronger overall look and feel without requiring the budget of a larger website.
