…and why the heck is everyone telling you to clear it?
Cache is a storage space where your browser, apps, or servers keep copies of static files from frequently visited websites. These include images, text, scripts, and styles. The goal is simple: load pages faster when you revisit them.
Content delivery networks (CDNs) and web servers also use caching to speed up content delivery by serving files from locations closer to users.

Why it Matters
Cached data helps pages load faster for visitors and improves performance for your site. Faster browsing means happier users and better search engine rankings. A smooth experience also keeps visitors on your site longer and boosts the chance they’ll convert.
When and Why to Clear it
Sometimes caching can backfire. For example, if a website changes its design or adds new content and you still see the old version, your cache might be the reason.
You should clear your cache when:
- A website updates or changes its layout
- A page uses dynamic or frequently updated content
- You are a developer testing changes
- You encounter issues like broken images or layout glitches

Clearing Cache on Your Website or CMS
If you update your site or CMS like WordPress, clear your site cache in your hosting or plugin dashboard. That way visitors always see the latest version of your content. Let us know if you’d like help setting that up.
In Plain English
Cache speeds up your browsing and keeps your site speed fast for visitors. Clearing it now and then ensures you’re seeing the most current version of a website and helps avoid display issues. It’s like hitting refresh on a gallery when new photos are added.
